The OSTUFERHAFEN of Kiel [DE ] is located on the east side of the Kiel Fjord and was taken on board the STENA SCANDINAVICA. This place was photographed at night, with an iPhone, and while the ship was underway with approximately 10 knots. Therefore the conditions where quite bad to take a photo of good quality.
This harbour developed to a freight and logistics centre of the Port of Kiel over years and comprises six berths. Ferries and RoRo-vessels are shuttling from and to [RU], [EE], [LV], [LT], [FI] and [SE], carrying scrap, cereals or coal.
Two ships can be seen on the photograph above - the vessel on the right hand side is operated by DFDS (VICTORIA SEAWAYS or ATHENA SEAWAYS) and is shuttling on a daily basis between Kiel and Klaipeda [LT] (arrival: 5 P.M., departure: 9 P.M.). The vessel on the left hand side is the COLOR CARRIER who started operating in January 2019. The RoRo carrier Transits to Oslo [NO] twice a week.
On the picture below you can see a coal-fired power plant with a huge chimney. The smaller site on the left is a gas and steam turbine power plant under construction that is planned to replace the coal-fired power plant.
