Oumi is a AOE-426 Mashu-class (ましゅう型) replenishment oiler in service with JMSDF. It is the biggest warship of the JMSDF until 2015, when the Izumo-class DDH was commissioned.
Key facts: displacement 25,000t, length 221m, beam 27m, draft 8m, 2 gas turbines connected through COGAG totaling 40,000hp result in a maximum speed of 24kts. The fuel capacity equals 9,500 miles when sailing with 20kts. The crew consists of 145 sailors.
There are six replenishment stations. The middle stations are used for solid RAS, the forward and rear stations are used for liquid RAS e.g. fresh water or fuel for aircraft and other vessels.
The vessel has comprehensive medical capabilities. With a surgery operation room, an intensive care station, a x-ray photograph and 46 beds makes this vessel capable for disaster relief operations or MASCAL situations.
